Note 1. Construction parties were not always up to full strength which made uneconomical work.
2. Bridge was not a complete bridge. Extra precautions had therefore to be taken to prevent Landing Bay slipping when "jacking down"

As 4 end posts are to be utilised in construction it is found that a gap of 18 inches would result (when in position at landing platform) due to the transom being on (a) front of the upright at one end while resting in the end post at the other. (b) The addition of an extra transom with the addition of 3 junction chesses (these can be lashed down) overcome this difficulty.

Preparing crib pier roller seatings for launching S.B.G.

This included carrying timber 200yards. Rollers were placed a 10 foot from inshore pier (b)-22 ft (c) 14ft 6in (a) 15ft 6in. It was found that the first rollers could have been placed 13 feet from Inshore pier.

(2)Carrying down box sections and heavy equipment 60 yrds, small stores 300 yds.

(3) Complete building of (and mooring) Class 40 S.B.G. raft

It was found impossible to run the Bailey Type B raft as only 4 crutches are available on the quarters.

A current of 4-4 ½ knots with flood water made progress impossible and after a journey of ½ a mile down steam the raft had to be moored to bank. The motor boat could not get the raft away from the bank as the raft was broadside on to the current.

2 Propulsion units will drive th S.B.G. raft if the current does not exceed 2 ½ knots and the wind is slight.

The Bailey bridge could not be pulled across the S.W.R. as the current proved too strong.

This was due to the fact that waterwas deep and trees washed down obstrcuted the manoeuvering of the pontoon. Trees had been cleared and pontoon thus brought nearer to the bank.These times included the laying of anchors.

Neither (2) nor (3) were completely finished when the Trestle Leg slipped.

Owing to the fact that the roadbearers of the Sliding Bay were fouling the transoms of the trestle, an adjustment was necessary. The stiffening chesses from the Trestle Bay were removed and the Shore Transom was moved down-stream. This movement caused the downstress log to slip off it's shoe. The chains had apparantly both come off earlier and the shoe was clearly on a slope and as a small movement was quite sufficient to shift the lot clear of the shoe
