D-day captured and held POW at Stalag IV-B. Muhlberg/Elbe, Brandenburg, Germany - prisoner number 82080. 
Liberated in 1945.

1939 Family address: 9 Witherdene Rd, Rhonda - with brother Reginald and his wife as heads of the household and all surviving younger siblings living with them.

Civilian Occupation:

Coal miner before the War and Mining engineer after the war.
Emigrated to Melbourne Australia in December 1948 without his legal wife, his occupation listed as a Diamond Driller.

Whether by coincidence or design there happened to be a Mrs J E Wood also sailing on the same vessel, without her husband, to Melbourne, Australia.


(1) 1942 at Bath to Eileen Joyce Eagle ( 1921- 1985) -see news clips below.
She filed for divorce in 1950, and married her second husband George John Bearman (1927-1998) the same year her divorce was granted.

(2) 1949 (bigamously by both parties)  - in Victoria, Australia [reference  no. 11128] to Jessie Evelyn Wood nee Sims (1913-1989) she being the wife of Denis Charles Thomas Wood (1912-1980) of Willesden, London having married him in 1935 at Willesden.

Cyril and Jessie are on a ship's passenger list from Australia back to the UK in 1955. They settled in South Wales.
