8 Sep 40 joined Antrim Fortress Company

 

5 Jun 1964 - Captain Breene retires from the Territorial Army with an Honorary rank of Major.

Family Notes:

son  of the Very Reverend Richard Simmons Breene (1886- ) and his wife Rebecca Louise Dennison (1896- )  [m.1913 Larne, Antrim]

RAS Breene attended Campbell College Belfast.

His father had been an Army Chaplain in WW1.

RAS Breene was step-father to his wife's two children from her first marriage.

23 Feb 1952- Appointed HM Vice-Consul to Zagreb

8 Dec 1953 - Gazette announces his appointed to Branch B of Her Majesty's Foreign Service -with effect from 10 Jan 1949.

21 Jan 1953 - Appointed HM Consul in Sarajevo.

15 Jan 1956 - Appointed HM Consul to Strasbourg

1 Jul 1959 - Appointed HM Consul to Rep. of Senegal

28 Nov 1960 - Appointed HM Consul to the Islamic Rep. of Mauritania.

 

Married:

1953 Harriet Joane Hawkins nee Mercier (c.1918-17 Feb 2005) married in Belgrade, Serbia [her 2nd marriage].

She was born in Rotterdam and her birth is registered as a British Consular Overseas birth.

Her death obituary appeared in The Telegraph Newspaper.

Died:

1993  aged 79 in Brackley RD, Northamptonshire, England.
