Wounded in Normandy and evacuated to United Kingdom, he rejoined the squadron before the Rhine Crossing.

Son  of William Hobson Snr. 23 Aug (1899-1966) and his wife Martha Alice Collins [m. 1919 Salford] (1900-1964).

Twin brother of Sapper Thomas Hobson, also in 591 Parachute Squadron.

Brother of Grace Hobson b. 1922, John  Hobson b. 1925 and Muriel Hobson b. 1935

Cousin of actor Albert Finney (1936-2019), through Albert's mother Alice Hobson.

Died:

24  March 1945 aged 20 Hammelkeln, Germany.

Burial:

Buried  same evening in Hammilkeln by his colleagues, Sappers Heslop, McDonough and Davies [in the middle of a residential garden lawn.] Later re-interred at Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, plot 32, row E grave no.7.
