This probably due to the death of his father in Chorley.

1947 emigrated to New Zealand with his wife, sailing on the "Rimutaka".
Civil  engineer - consultant civil engineer on the construction of Wairakei Geothermal Powerstation, North Island New Zealand and  Roxburgh hydro-electric power station amongst other projects in New Zealand.

Married:

1946  Mary Millicent Laund (1919-1986) in Chorley , Lancashire. She also died in New Zealand.
