1942-1943 2i/c (2nd in command) of Antrim Field Company RE (soon after renamed 591 Antrim Parachute Squadron)

11 May 1946 confirmed promotion to 2nd Lieutenant

11 May 1948 promotion to Lieutenant

5 May 1951 rank of Lieutenant from emergency commission now confirmed as Lieutenant with seniority dated 3 June 1944

17 July 1951 promoted to Captain

15 Aug 1952, Captain Masterton receives a short service commission from the reserves, with the rank of Lieutenant and seniority from 4 Aug 1948.
