11 Jun 1943 joined 591 Antrim Para Sqn.

D-day taken POW, held at Oflag V-A, Weinsberg, Baden Wurttenberg, Germany. Prisoner No.3424


Family Notes:

son  of Benjamin Ernest Graeme Oliveira (1898-1938) and his wife Edith Glenny Vale (1888-1969) (this her 2nd marriage, her first husband was killed in 1915 WW1 just weeks after the marriage.)

In 1920 she sailed to Ceylon and again in 1921.

BEG Oliveira had sailed there in 1917 having been declared medically unfit to continue service in the British Army due to a heart condition. (He had also been born in Ceylon.) I presume they married in Ceylon sometime between 1921 and 1923, though have not yet located the date or place.


Father of two sons and a daughter.

(one son died in infancy)

Surgeon  FRCS. 


1952  Pamela Avril Maitland-Heriot ()  in Kensington RD, England.


10  Nov 1983 aged 60 in Westminster RD, England.



Cemetery / Memorial:





Attended  Cothill House Prep School, Frilford Heath as a boarder in the 1930's.

His parents lived at Lippakelle, Lindula, Sri Lanka until his father's death.

17 Apr 1948 - he gained his pilot's licence from the Royal Aero Club. Qualifying on the Isle of Wight.
