Son of William John Taylor (1896- ..) a veteran of WW1 where he served in the Royal Canadian Machine Gun Corps, on the Western Front.
Billy's father had emigrated to Canada in 1913, returned to Ulster in 1919 to get married aftre the War, then back to Canada. He returned to Ulster in 1923 and the family settled there.
